on July 16 1956, the Muncherjee Nowrojee Banajee Industrial
Home for the Blind (MNB) is a monument to the munificence
of late Serenbai Banajee who gave this bungalow for
use and occupation in memory of her father to start a residential
industrial and vocational training centre for visually-challenged
men. Thus the Muncherjee Nowrojee Banajee Industrial Home for the
Blind was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.
Tucked away amidst verdant surroundings it is housed in the bungalow
aptly named "Chateau Dieu" (Castle of God) and two acres of land housing
three buildings at S. V. Road, Jogeshwari (W) Mumbai. This complex
is truly a home away from home for visually challenged men between
the age of 18 to 45 years.
The MNB Home caters to the physical, mental and moral upliftment of
its inmates. The institution's aim has always been to provide multifarious
services for visually-challenged individuals and to enable and encourage
them to be self-reliant.
